A lack of good wifi, a lousy blogging app, and a personal lack of motivation to write means I’ve missed the first few days of our cruise. Let me try to catch you up:
Day 2 was a sea day.
Day 3, we were in Icy Strait Point.
We enjoyed a short walk up to the main tourist area but made our way past all of that to catch a shuttle into the ‘City’ of Hoonah. I’m told the graduating class this year is a total of 4 young people. That will give you an idea of the size of the population.
After lunch at a local eatery, we slowly made our way back towards the shuttle, stopping along the way to see the sights and do a bit of shopping.
A young fellow had spotted a bald eagle feeding on a carcass and had set up a telescope for people to watch. He captured this photo for us. Very cool.We slowly made our way back to our ship, hopping on the gondola transfer down and then walking the distance back to the ship. We were both ready for a cold beer and a rest when we got back to our stateroom.
Day 4 was our stop in Skagway, our taste of the gold rush. We visited the Red Onion Saloon, which was supposed to include breakfast, but didn’t. None-the-less, the ‘girls’ did an excellent job of creating a ‘feel’ for what life was like for the women back in the dayWe were both pretty tired so it was a quiet and early night for both of us.
That brings us to today, and another post.
