After an exciting discovery of peanut butter for breakfast, we had some time to get ready for the day's hike. Already our support team was dismantling the camp.
A group gathered to do some warm-up exercises. I chose to take a walk into the hills to take advantage of the last day to enjoy the clump grasses.
From our camp in Ancascocha, today's hike was all downhill. My knees will be stiff tomorrow!
We followed the beautiful Silque River which gets more turbulent as we descended. We crossed 7 foot bridges through the day.
The terrain was more lush now. Although it was only the beginning of the rainy season, we walked in green vegetation.
From seeing flowering cactuses higher up, we now encountered flowers starting to bloom. There were several species of orchids along this route.
We saw groups of these beautiful moths enjoying the flowers as well.
Our camp for this final night of camping was in a community with a serviced building offering flush toilets and hot showers!
Local women were on hand to offer hand-made goods and cold beer for sale.
This, coupled with knowing it was the last night of camping and that tomorrow was our day to reach Machu Picchu, sprits were high.
